C&MA Pre-Millennialism

Posted by Jennifer Whiteman , 13 June 2011 · 1963 views

An interesting request came to me here at the C&MA Archives today - what was the C&MA's historical pre-millennial view required for licensed pastors? This post doesn't give an official answer...but was very thought provoking. I'm wondering...would our CAMA and IFAP ministries have survived our pre-millennial position?

Our premillennial position has been a driving force since the earliest beginnings of the C&MA. It is not only theologically plausible/likely, but also serves as a motivating factor. To go to a post/a-millennial position says that it is up to us to make the changes in the world. It relies on the natural, not the supernatural, to change people's hearts. Granted, as in the article by Franklin Pyles, it can dissociate us from the lost around us. It also can drive us to use whatever method to reach the "least of these" for the kingdom of Christ. We are commanded to let the little children come. We see the compassion Jesus had for the crowds of people. Pre-millennial positioning should not reduce our compassion for the whole person. It should increase it, since we are trying to reach the whole man as Christ did.
