Suppose you read an account of a great adventure. You are spellbound! Suspensebuilds as various dangers are encountered. You "feel" the hardships. You hurt for any injuries or even deaths. You rejoice in each milestone of progress. You celebrate the accomplishment of the desired goal. And you never left your chair! Isn't that the way many respond to their Bibles? We read it and are fascinated with the way God works in so many lives. We are excited over the victories. We are captivated and thrilled as we read God's unfolding plan working out in spite of overwhelming odds. And we resume our daily lives wondering what it would be like to experience a walk with God like that! The Word of God is not simply an account of an amazing drama that we read about only to put it away somewhere and forget. It is a manual on how to enter in to the wonder of God's unfolding work in our world today. You and I are meant to experience the adventure. We need to be qualified (only born again people can participate). We need equipping, training, supplies, guidance, directions, determination, purpose and a team. The Bible is the source of all that we need. Are you ready to move out? In the words of the Psalmist: "Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in Him; and He shall bring it to pass" (Psalm 37:5). Anyone who knows the Lord and will follow Him can be a vital part of His march to total victory. Paul, in II Corinthians 2:14 exclaims: "Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ...." Even with setbacks and some defeats, we move on to ultimate victory! The hymn: "Never Alone," describes the adventure and the outcome. "I've seen the lightning flashing, I've heard the thunder roll, I've felt sin's breakers dashing which almost conquered my soul; I've heard the voice of my Savior bidding me still to fight on; He promised never to leave me, never to leave me alone! The world's fierce winds are blowing; temptations sharp and keen; I have a peace in knowing my Savior stands between -- He stands to shield me from danger when my friends are all gone; He promised never to leave me, never to leave me alone! When in affliction's valley I tread the road of care, my Savior helps me to carry the cross so heavy to bear; tho' all around me is darkness, earthly joys all flown; my Savior whispers His promise, never to leave me alone! He died on Calvary's mountain, for me they pierced His side, for me He opened that fountain, the crimson, cleansing tide; for me He waiteth in glory, seated upon His throne; He promised never to leave me, never to leave me alone!" (Source unknown). Selah! Dynamic Christianity is for participants, not just observers! Thinker (Ron)
