I have been a member of the C&MA Church for 10 years and have read the mission statement and Beliefs, but, I have not been able to find anything on what our Church believes happens to one at the time of death.  Does our spirit, the essence of us, rise to be with Jesus upon death or do we lie in rest until the reserrection?  Please help me to understand our beliefs in this area.  Thank you in advance.

I really thought that this forum was to help people who had questions about the Alliance stand on different topics.  I would think that this is a subject that deserves attention because we are ALL going to die eventually.  Maybe it is because I am new to this web site and my question isn't  as intellectual as some.  Anyway, I have been told different things and since just recently loosing my husband of 54 years I guess I am just searching for comfort.

Hello sweet sister. I'm sad that you have lost your husband of so many years. I'm not a member of a CMA church but I'm part of the body of Christ and I can tell you that your husband went directly into our Lord's arms. Our spirits are eternal, our bodies will be resurrected when He comes back for the church.

There is nothing I can do for your sadness but I encourage you to know your husband is glorying in the love of Jesus Christ. Please know you will be in my prayers. Betsy

Lande,

I am deeply sorry for your loss.  Be assured that we of the C&MA do believe that when we are called home to be with our Savior, our spirit goes to be with him, just like the thief on the cross was promised that very day he would be in Paradise with Jesus.  At the same time, our physical body will not be transformed until our Savior returns in his glorious Second coming.

Hebrews 9:27 tells us that for us, we die and then comes judgment which we understand has immediacy of transpiring.  I hope that this helps you as you grieve over the passing of your husband.

I am sorry for your loss; this is very hard after so many years.  I lost my husband after only 5 months, so I can partially understand your grief.

I don't know "Alliance" beliefs specific to your questions.  But, scripture you can read 2 Corinthians 5:8...

Yes, Shaun is accurate.

I pray you have comfort and peace after meditating on verses such as Shaun quoted and that God gives you a real sense of His presence as you are praying.

I am so sorry for the loss of your husband.  But remember....To be absent from this body is to be present with Christ.
