Are you Busy?

Posted by Tkulp , 01 June 2017 · 879 views

Too busy to feed on Christ? Too busy to harvest the daily portion of manna?

Too many responsibilities that I have lost the thrill of life and not heard the still small voice that says, this is the way- walk ye in it, rest in me, this moment's issues are enough, follow My (The Holy Spirit's) moment by moment guidance!

I am really thankful for the close friends that are listening and obeying.

Here are some of what they shared with me.

Character with Age

You will come to your grave in a full age, As stacks of grain are harvested in their season.—Job 5:26 NET
A gentleman, writing about the breaking up of old ships, recently said that it is not the age alone which improves the quality of the fiber in the wood of an old vessel, but the straining and wrenching of the vessel by the sea, the chemical action of the bilge water, and of many kinds of cargoes.
Some planks and veneers made from an oak beam which had been part of a ship eighty years old were exhibited a few years ago at a fashionable furniture store on Broadway, New York, and attracted general notice for the exquisite coloring and beautiful grain.
Equally striking were some beams of mahogany taken from a bark which sailed the seas sixty years ago. The years and the traffic had contracted the pores and deepened the color, until it looked as superb in its chromatic intensity as an antique Chinese vase. It was made into a cabinet, and has today a place of honor in the drawing-room of a wealthy New York family.
So there is a vast difference between the quality of old people who have lived flabby, self-indulgent, useless lives, and the fiber of those who have sailed all seas and carried all cargoes as the servants of God and the helpers of their fellow men.
Not only the wrenching and straining of life, but also something of the sweetness of the cargoes carried get into the very pores and fiber of character. —Louis Albert Banks
When the sun goes below the horizon he is not set; the heavens glow for a full hour after his departure. And when a great and good man sets, the sky of this world is luminous long after he is out of sight. Such a man cannot die out of this world. When he goes he leaves behind him much of himself. Being dead, he speaks. —Beecher
When Victor Hugo was past eighty years of age he gave expression to his religious faith in these sublime sentences: "I feel in myself the future life. I am like a forest which has been more than once cut down. The new shoots are livelier than ever. I am rising toward the sky. The sunshine is on my head. The earth gives me its generous sap, but Heaven lights me with its unknown worlds.
“You say the soul is nothing but the resultant of the bodily powers. Why, then, is my soul more luminous when my bodily powers begin to fail? Winter is on my head, but eternal spring is in my heart. I breathe at this hour the fragrance of the lilacs, the violets, and the roses as at twenty years. The nearer I approach the end the plainer I hear around me the immortal symphonies of the worlds which invite me. It is marvelous, yet simple.”

and....

Today, from the Lord, a portion of the Stream's devotional June 1.....

"I entreat you, give no place to despondency. This is a dangerous temptationa refined, not a gross temptation of the adversary. Melancholy contracts and withers the heart, and renders it unfit to receive the impressions of grace**. It magnifies and gives a false coloring to objects, and thus renders your burdens too heavy to bear. God’s designs regarding you, and His methods of bringing about these designs, are infinitely wise. —Madame Guyon"

**For those that are not familiar with the real definition of Grace... "especially the divine influence upon the heart, and its reflection in the life; including gratitude" Strong's.

Thank you Jesus, that the hand of your Spirit is always there to grab a-hold-of when we falter with the load.

When we have forgotten your presence to help carry and have not yet learned your ways and your voice, as we should know them and rely upon them!

When our sight sees too much of this world, rather than Your Way!

I really appreciate the song that my daughter sent me and the verses from my grandson and daughter!

Truths that it is easy to forget when we, as humans, feel, see and hear the storm blowing! Our flesh, senses, and Satan want to control the mind and thoughts (our heart)

This is a song my mother used to sing to me frequently!

Cheer Up Ye Saints of God

Cheer up ye saints of God
There’s nothing to worry about
Nothing to make you feel afraid
Nothing to make you doubt
Remember Jesus never fails
So why not trust Him and shout
You’ll be sorry you worried at all
Tomorrow morning!

Here are the verses that my Grandson sent me...

Psa 31:19-24  How great is your favor, which you store up for your loyal followers! In plain sight of everyone you bestow it on those who take shelter in you. You hide them with you, where they are safe from the attacks of men; you conceal them in a shelter, where they are safe from slanderous attacks.  The LORD deserves praise for he demonstrated his amazing faithfulness to me when I was besieged by enemies.  I jumped to conclusions and said, "I am cut off from your presence!" But you heard my plea for mercy when I cried out to you for help.  Love the LORD, all you faithful followers of his! The LORD protects those who have integrity, but he pays back in full the one who acts arrogantly.  Be strong and confident, all you who wait on the LORD!

and...

Psa 103:8-14  Psa 103:8  The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.  He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever. He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.  For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.  As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him. For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.

.and from my daughter....

Isa 59:19  So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him.

Thanks!!

I just felt to share the devotional that my Pastor sent to me (from Adrian Rogers), as I have been battling issues, that I have surrendered to the Lord, total control of.

Just was sharing with a neighbor to hear that he has been having similar attacks. "Greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world!"

JUNE 1

Character—It’s An Inside Job

“The just man walketh in his integrity: his children are blessed after him.” - Proverbs 20:7

This world says if we could just arrange conditions where we never have any sorrow, pain, or hurts, then we could change men. If we can change conditions we can change character. But the Bible teaches just the opposite.

The world puts the emphasis on condition—God puts the emphasis on character. Someone has well said you can’t purify the water by painting the pump. And yet that’s what we try to do. We think that if we can change the exterior or make conditions such that we never have any hurts, then we’re going to be okay. But, Jesus put the emphasis upon character. Upon what you are, not what you have.

Is there someone in your life you admire? Someone who is a person of integrity? Praise God for His work in that person’s life and give him or her a word of encouragement.
